I will say this, for one time in my life its a good thing to be a redneck from the woods... I grew up in WV, fishing/hunting was something my dad taught me and I enjoyied. I also helped in the garden. My husbands family owns a good country block here in TN and there are a bunch of cattle on it, and 2 giant gardens, the garden food always puts out enough to can/freeze for another year, in fact I have used corn for 2 years. (thank goodness the corn from the year before last put out good, last year we actually still had corn)

I have no problem w/ killing any of the cattle in the feild and eating it (especially the angus!! can we say ribeye? lol) after I broke my ankle when they got out of their fence a year ago, thanks to the big angus bull out in the feild hes on my dinner list and has been for a while. He also charged at my husband that day.

Kill my cat for food? no fish? no.. I couldn't eat my pets...
unless my pets say oink, moo, or cockadoodledo...

If I was snow bound to my house and ran out of food fried fish would be on the menu an oscar hand fed shrimp and crawfish and never had a hard day in it's life would prob be very tasty with a little garlic and dill....

But then again in this case I would go down the list and the cat and dog would follow....

but on the norm I dont see a reason why you couldn't eat your fish. Cooking them would kill the bacteria.

The chemicals we put in our tenk are most likely better then the stuff we dump into rivers and streams.

So I say go for it and let us know how they taste.

As a kid my uncle had a pet pig porky and I was very upset when i found out who was the main guest for dinner at the pig roast.. I almost didn't finish my pulled pork sandwich

number one rule with pets and eating them.. dont name them. .once you name them then they become unedible.. im sure those raising fish farms and every live stock farmer dont name thier stock.. I've seen people eat live gold fishes.. so dead ones shouldnt be a problem.. unless it was floating for a few days.. then i'd wonder about that.. and stay away from puffers... you'd have to be a master sushi chef to prepare those.. let us know how you prepare yours..

This is like a really disturbing thread for someone who owns different pets both furry and fishy...

Who would actually eat their pet

besides, like it was said before there are so many chemicals and bacteria and parasites... it is just not right or safe...

Besides the pet factor, the fish would have had to die for a reason, whether it is old age or disease. That is the reason they don't sell meat that dies natural deaths, since even if it is from old ace, the meat is still really bad...
