HELP: Snail Problems

Hi Guys/Girls,

My tank recently have been invaded by evil snails. I manually removed them, but they just come back, AAARRRRRR.

Is there any good way to get rid of all of them? They look ugly and annoying.

Thanks a lot,

Will

Loaches or Dwarf Puffers LOVE snails, but Dwarf Puffers don't play well with others.

but if you get clown loaches you will need a very big tank as they can grow to about 16" so be carefull. i had some snails a while back so i got some newts that are black with orange bellies,i think they are called japanies water dragons or something. they ate them up fast. how big are the snails and what colour are they.when i get my camera back i will post some pics of the newts so you can see what they look like. hope it all sorts out.

Snails will only reproduce in large numbers if there is food for them. Could be that you are overfeeding your fish.

Try tying a piece of string to a piece of lettuce. Drop the lettuce in the water that night. Pull the lettuce out in the morning and it should be covered in snails.

From everything I've read, snails *AREN'T* bad to have in your tank. They can tell you when your water quality is bad, if you're overfeeding. They eat the dead plant material and algae as well.

Edit: snails *AREN'T* bad

Pond snails seem to be able to reproduce amazingly well, even with limited food sources. Little to no leftover food helps though, so that's one way to attack them.
