How did I miss it being a Q tank and yes your right it would have to be kept running.
One of the more expensive fish stores here by us had a 250G tank with a moss wall a few years back. It was full of Rainbows of all kinds. It was trully gorgeous.

anyone have other pictures of moss walls they've done... i like the idea.. and i ve asked this in a nother thread but whats the best way of trimming the back moss wall? Just scissors?

Scissors. But you want it to grow out into the water column a little.

I dont know if this was answered in the thread, I only looked at the posting of how to make a moss wall, but can you use java moss for this? Thanks. I'm getting a starter clump soon and I was thinking of just growing it by itself in a ten gallon and then making the back of my 29 gal tank into a java moss wall. Would this help water conditions too? Thanks.

Yes Java Moss is the moss most prefered for this project.

Real plants always improve the water conditions as well as making your fish really happy. Little Satin wiould really love a tall plant to sleep in so he doesn't have to swim that far to "breathe" during the night. You will find that fish around real plants are not as "jumpy" and seem to have a contented attitude.

I ordered six java plants and one clump of java moss online but it hasnt come yet . Satin has a pretty tall cave though that he sleeps on (sooo cute). Cant wait for my live plants...
