Ok, just a tad bored, and have run out of idea's for research. So I decided to type a little bit about all my fish, not including Patty, since she already has a whole thread just about her! So anyway, moving on.....


Shovel!!!!! Shovel is a tetra, now I'm not sure if he is male or female, because you can't tell with tetra's. But my brother named him, and he has been nicknamed alot. Some people call him Twitch, because he twitches A LOT! Other people call him tattered, because when he was at my friend's house (took the tank there when I was gone) and he got sucked up by the filter! SO his top fin got a buzz cut as I like to call it, and is not gonna grow back. He bottom fin is a little wavy, and his back fin is almost gone. We took him to the vet and they said he was perfectly fine, just a little TATTERED!

Giant! Giant get's his name from me, he is the biggest fish in the tank along with his eyes! They are un-naturally huge!!!!! But he is very shy and won't hurt a fly, so he's my mamma's boy!

Cody!!!!!! Cody is named after my dad, he is the smallest one in the tank, and is really still a baby. But he is the fastest one in the tank, and is along side of Patty when it comes to food. Not what Cody will hurt is a different story.....

R.I.P. Bill... Bill got his name from my computer. It says Bill on the side, I think it mean's something, but I don't know what. He was a very nice fish, always looking out for Patty. But then, Bill got sick. He didn't eat for a week. then this morning he was swimming around all happy, I put some food in the tank, and he swam under the bridge and stayed there, I turned away to say good morning to my brother, and he was floating. And Patty was just sitting by him, so we took him out of the tank, and she's running around everywhere again. I think where going to berry him by Petey. I love you Bill

R.I.P. Petey was my very first male. Oldest guy at the pet store, and the largest. He fought a sickness for 2 weeks. Me and my mom saw the ending of it, he was in pain, and with the last strokes he had, he swam under the bridge. And he twitched around a little bit, but then he just couldn't do it. I love you Bill, your such a good fish, he never even got to see his first babies. Poor baby.



Those are just my fish now, wait till Patty gives birth!

What kind of tetra is shovel?
Funny you mention his tail, when I first got fish, there was one without a tail. If it was a wound, it was well healed, maybe it was a birth defect. He swam around happily around the tank with no problems. My daughter wanted me to buy him and name him stumpy! lol. I was new to fish and didn't want to take the chance. I kinda wish I had bought stumpy, he had appeal.

I found out the problem with the males!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See before, I had only 1 male, and 1 female. But Molly Males like 2-3 girls to them selves! And for awhile we didn't have a good tank, but then we took samples to the vet, and said it was all cycled and good to go! So yesterday, my dad went to go buy some plants for the tank (our live plant died, so we got fake ones =D) And he surprised me and got 3 new fish!!!!! 1 male, and 2 other females!! Would you like to know there names?

Your vet does water samples?

Yes, my vet did offer to do a water sample. We got scooped some out of the tank, and she recommended this pH stuff, which we got and know there all happy.

The male is
Bob Patrick(It was going to be St. Patrick because there a 4 leaf clover on his back tail, it really looks like that but I changed it to Bob)
The pregnant female is;
Patty(the one you already know about I just wanted to add her so you don't and confused)
Mamma Carrie(The new female molly thats pregnant, Carrie for short)
And
the other new female which is not pergnant (YET) is:
Marry Land (Her gills are huge!!!!)

Wow, what a cool idea! I think i might have to do one of these in my FL Blog. Bill sounded like some kind of Pleco - they have a special 'suckjer-mouth' that they use for clinging on to things like the glass. My Bristlenose (BN) Pleco loves the glass! What kind of fish is Giant? He sounds pretty cool. Are all your new fish Mollies? I love Mollies. I really want Black mollies again, they're great little fish. One of my first fish was a Balck Mollie (Shadow), but she lived in an uncycled tank, (Before I knew about fish) and the por old thing managed to hold on for months before Ick attacked and killed her. My second Black Molly, whose name I have forgotten, was bought as a large baby, and caught ick. Now, once upon a time, I was netting out dead plant leaves, (BLACK ones!) and I didn't see her underneath the leaf in my net... I come home from school - "Where's the Molly?", after a long search she is in the bottom of the net, dead. Now, my 3rd Molly was a Balloon mollie, Male, named Pearl. However, when I went away, you can guess... Poor little dude, he was a cool fish.

You know, writing that reminds me how much I miss Livebarers... I have 4 Platys now - but now I really am considering a pair of Black Mollies. Thanks for bringing back those memories buddy!

Well, Mollies are great fish! But I am having trouble finding the difference between Mamma Carrie, and MArry Land! Because Mamma Carrie isn't too big yet, but when I look at the gills, I can tell.

Shovel is, I forgot what kinda of tetra he is. I know there was that other kind, that was sensitive to water, thats not him, hes long and skinny, and the eyes are on the side of his head. =D

He looks like the fish in your picture, but only that color. SHOVEL IS CARRING EGGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHOVEL IS A GIRL!!!

The fish in my avatar is a Silver hatchet, which happens to be a member of the Characin family - the same family tetras belong to. Shovel could be a Silver tip tetra. Chheck it out!

I have pictures. But something terrible has happened to Patty! I think she has a spinal twist, and now she swims with her tale up looking like she's about to flip over! And remember how she is pregnant? Well she's over 10 days due! And her white spot on her but has a hole in it! What does that mean?? I think she is about to die! I need help! I will post the pictures now, there not ALL of her, some of them are of Cody and Giant, Shovel was swimming to fast so I couldn't get any of him/her, but theres some of Mamma Carrie. I will post the [ictures in another message, please respond quick if you know what this is all about!

If I remember rightly, awkward swimming is related to Swim bladder disease...

Swimming upside down? And what is swim bladder disease? Does it hurt the fish? Can is cause death? She is pregnant ya know, will it hurt the babies?

Oh and how long does it take for fish eggs to hatch? One more question, is it possible to move eggs around? Or will that hurt the babies inside?

I'm no expert of fish disease - mainly because I am fortunate enough to have only experienced ick and Swim-bladder. I'm not sure what it is, why not post something about it on the fish diseases board? Yes, Swim bladder is lethal and out of about 15 or so of my fish who have caught it in the past, none have survived...

If whatever this is related to a disease, then, although I can't comfirm this, her babies probably won't be very healthy.

R.I.P Mamma Carrie(We had to flush, she killed a fish!)
Marry land(last female Molly, and et very sick)

Giant(Used to be the biggest, but is now the smallest fish in the tank)

Please never flush a live fish! It is extremely cruel, as they go through all the waste etc., the answer is either another tank or take back to the LFS. There is often an explanation for fighting. Can we know what kinds of fish they all are?

Sorry for flushing the live fish, but she had her self ripped up as well, and was going to die soon. Marry Land got really sick last night just as we put the last of the medicine in, and she sadly passes about 3 hours ago, and I just buried her. Bill is a Black Molly. And Cody, Giant, and Shovel are tetras.

I'm sorry about Marry land! With all these problems your having it might be a good idea to get doing twice weekly water changes to keep that water extra clean!

Well, he would get a bit lonely, but to be honest 3 tetras (what kind of tetra?) and a molly pretty much stock a 10gal.
