| LOL... I dont know! Funny tho, I have seen my Discus who is in a tank with a planted background go to the glass and look like its trying to pick at the plants. It didnt do that in the tank with the solid black background..
So its possible that they do check it out and wonder what it is... |

| lol. I have no background, but am thinking about getting a dark blue one, just something that will hide the mass of cords behind the tank, and hopefully help reduce any future stress in the fish. I don't really have stress problems with my fish, they have been in there a long time, but still... what do you guys/girls think? |

| Hi Kayin
the solid blue backgrounds are very nice. I have a solid black on one of my tanks, the solid colors really do bring out the fish more than a planted background. I just think that the planted backgrounds look good if you do not have a lot of decorations or plants in the tank.. But it all comes down to personal choices of what you think looks best on your tank. |

| I use colored construction paper. If you look in my gallery, you'll see the difference just a change of paper color can make with the decor in my tank, and it might give you some ideas. Construction paper also has the remarkable quality of being cheap and easily changed. |

| Wow, that's something I never thought about - that they might mistake those plants on the background for real ones! : |

But other fish will just think theres more of them, a very good way to make schooling fish more comfortable.
I have run tanks with out backgrounds and had fish swim into the glass pretty hard. I guess they thought the tank went on a little farther

| Hi!
I wouldn't have a clue about these thigns - I always use black backgrounds! Yeah, Bettas can flare so much they rip their fins, which is why we don't want them to do it. |

| I always feel bad about planted backgrounds because the tank looks big to the fish but they cant explore it |
