If she is what do i do? she is pregnant & she is the last pregnant fish in my tank. In the past month, i have had two cardinals die, one female guppy and almost a molly. I NEED HELP! |

| If your aquarium information is correct, you unfortunately have too many fish in the tank. About the only things that would work in a 7g tank would be a betta or a dwarf puffer. Your fish are likely putting out too much waste, and are slowly suffocating in the nitrates. |

| To give you an idea, the koi angelfish alone is too big for that tank. The chinese algae eater will grow too big for that tank. The two mollies are too big for that tank.
The general guideline is 1" of adult fish per gallon of tank, though particularly large or oddly shaped (such as angelfish) take up more bioload than normal, meaning they need even more water. |

| Your tank is over stocked. Do you still have the angel fish in there as well?
Anyway.. I dont know how many you have left in the tank, but I would do an immediate water change. Your ammonia is too high, as is your nitrate.
Try doing the water change to get those toxins down asap. Take out about 50% water, and use a water conditioner with the new clean water that you put back into the tank.
good luck.. and maybe you can save some of the fish that are left in your tank and then think about getting a larger tank, some of the fish in your list really do need a larger tank.

| yer fishies are dying.... Hey there. I'm new to all this stuff too. You should only have 1 fish per gallon of water in yer tank, so yer not well off.
The pregnant molly will act "sick" as she is getting ready to lay the eggs. As long as she is eating... that's a good sign.
In yer sitch, I'd take her out of what you have her in. You don't want those babies. Its nbd. Mollys always mate.
With the AMOUNT of fish you have, you shud be kicken at least a 15-20gal. Your fish are probly dying due to bad nitrate, nitrite, and amonia levels. I had a 5 gal and within one month, all my fish died. In such a small tank-the levels quickly turn bad, and yer fish are basically poisoned...
**also, tetras only do "well" in groups of 3 or more.
I'm sorry if I sound blunt... I went through all of this and it crushed me. |

| Welcome to Fishlore, Tifco.
It's actually one inch of adult fish per gallon. A few pet stores have the wrong information written down.
You're right about mollies breeding constantly, and that's a concern as well, except for the fact that, in a tank that small, they aren't likely to survive predation.
Good point on tetras, as well. Most people around here would suggest six or more. I think the only reason we're not suggesting addition is that the fish numbers need to be trimmed first. Adding any more fish would only speed the disaster. |

| Hello!!!
so sad that fishes are dying.
Even if you only have 8 fish left the tank is still too small!!!
You need a bigger tank and water change. I agree with what sirdaksol said and you should really think about getting a bigger tank.
GOOD LUCK!!! |

| Hey, Nanoman, sorry you lost your fish, and sorry if a few people were a bit overzealous in their remarks. Our intention is not to make you feel bad. That isn't what we're here for.
What we are here for is to help people be successful by sharing our knowledge. Sometimes we forget and offer more information than was asked for (I am guilty of this, as well), though.
If you want help setting up your tank, we are here. You can post questions in this thread, or you can post a new thread. Either way, it doesn't really matter to us. Or, if you just want to chat about something else, feel free to do so as well. |
