Since the 'exploding' tank episode, my fish are nuts when it comes to feeding time. They eat a silly amount of flakes, which I am reducing still because they are eating like gluttons literally, and then go for my clown pleco's algae wafer. I had some zucc to put in, but it was already rotten for some reason, so threw it out. Need to pick some up today when I go to teh store. Aside from that however - my honey sunset gouramis, the guppies, the corys(which I understand) and the yoyos are all trying to get the wafer away from my pleco. This started last night when I got the tank set up again, and occurred again this morning when I fed them. Are they all stressed out that they would eat anything put in the tank? They didn't touch his wafers before, except for the guppies.. now it's everyone in the tank. I'm at a loss at what to do for him for the time being. There's not gonna be much/any algae on the tank yet as it's brand new.. although I think the rock mountain and hideout had a bit of growth on it. This has been very very frustrating.

Serious doubts of getting a 75+ gallon now. If something like this were to happen again.. I'd freak.

if you use the hikari wafers, i always break them into several pieces, so there's more to 'go around' (or to reduce waste by not giving as much, depending on the tank occupants)... but my fish have always liked them as well as plecos.

I've been breaking them in two pieces and just adding 1 slice (I have the same as you). The other fish just never took a liking to them before now. I'll break them in to more pieces from now on and scatter them around.

Most of my other fish go after my pleco's wafer too, despite having already gotten their own food or treats (grrrrrrr!). I put two wafers in sometimes, but I've also discovered that my pleco sometimes decides to be really protective of his wafer and chase the others away. It's probably very annoying for him to have to defend his food, but it's also really cute! Sometimes, he just covers it with his body, like, "Back off, I'm saving it for later!!"

Good idea with getting some zucchini too! There should be plenty of that to go around, so your pleco shouldn't be shut out from that. My pleco doesn't always get much from his wafers, but he always gets plenty of cucumber when it's in the tank.

That's my clown pleco I'd been referring to Hatch. FYI for you though, I did take the BN (it's a juvie as well itself) out of the 10g and added it to the 29g as well. The clown and BN are much more 'active' with each other around now.
