Does camera flash bother fish?

I didn't think it did, but my girlfriend said it did. I like taking pictures of my fish, but I don't want to bother/stress them too much. What do you think? Thanks,

Cory

I don't know about the flash bothering the fish, but you can get some nasty glare off of the tank. I've noticed it taking pictures of mine for my tank diary.

What I do to eliminate the problem, and it should work for you as well, is turn on the light in the room (brighter is better) and have the tank light on, then turn off the flash on the camera.

If there's enough ambient light, you won't end up with a blurry photo or glare. I don't know how good of a camera you have, but you should end up with nice pictures that don't bother the fish.

I have a Canon XTi, don't really know how to use it that well, but think it's a decent camera. Thanks for your help,

Cory

I think it's something that can stress them to a point, depending on personality and how much time you spend taking pics.
