16 gallon tank plan

My eventual plan for my 16 gallon tank is to stock it with 3 Dwarf Gouramis and 2 Albino Cory Cats...pretty sure that would have my tank at it's limit...but not over-stocked......what do you guys think ?

3 Dwarf Gouramis is a bad idea, since they are territorial and are likely to fight.

Might be better to get only one, get 3 corydoras (since they like to be in groups) any maybe some tetras.

OR, one gourami and 5 corys.

The gourami (and the barbs if you get them) really like lots of plants in the tank since both are rather shy species.

Yes, Barbella is correct: Keeping multiple Dwarf Gouramis, especially males, would cause fights.

A school of corydoras is a wonderful sight and you will notice some silly behavior on them! Very fun. You can also keep a dwarf gourami.

Some ghost shrimps are a nice and interesting addition to your tank. Also, they have a very low bioload that their bioload might almost doesn't add to the tank! You can get maybe 2 or more.

Happy fishkeeping! Hope the tank goes well!

Hi!

I notice you have to swords in there. That leaves 6 inches. What about 1 male Dwarf gourami and 3 shrimp to finish it off?

Are you planning on moving the 2 red wag swords to the 55g tank? It looks like they'd fit in there if you wanted and would give you room for a dwarf gourami and 6 albino corys in the 16g.

Well it's been almost a week since I made my desision...I went with my 2 cories and 2 dwarf gouramis (1 male & 1 female)...everybody is getting along great ! I love watching the gouramis body language...very cool !

One question though...do you think my tank is at it's limit...or can anything else be added ?

are the swords in your 55 or 16?

with swords your tank is full

without, you could get 3 more cats (this is the wisest choice cause you will like them 10x better when they have a school to play with) and that would give you 15.5 perfect.

It's full. you might want to move the swords over to the 55g and get a 3rd one and get another couple cats for the 16g to give them shoals of at least 3.

Moved the swords...at the moment...it's as I said...2 cories and 2 dwarf gouramis (1 male & 1 female)...I figure that with the dec's and the sub ...I'm running at 14.5 gallons....any more ideas ?

Yea, they'll be more fun to watch and happier with a couple more. Someday I'd like to have a tank that I could put about 20 of them into. The more there are, the wilder they get.

Hi!

Yeah - they are really fun in big numbers! I'm annoyed with my Sterbai corys at the moment - they don't play at the front of the glass as much as they used to!
