What are your tanks water parameters?

ammonia?
nitrite?
nitrate?

A common pleco grows too large for a 55 gallon tank, though if it is just 3 days in the tank it probably didn't seem out of place.

But it sounds like it is a victim of new tank syndrome.

Did you cycle your tank before you put fish in?

Do you do any water changes? How much and how often?

Saying your water is "good" doesn't mean anything. Did you test it?
What were the results? It's very important to know if you're planning to put more fish in.

Too bad about the pleco.

Sorry about the pleco. It feels sad to lose a fish.

Yes, probably swim bladder disease. A good cure for the disease are peas(the one we eat). Hope you can successfully fight the disease next time!
