Fish Selection for 25 gallons of water

OK I think I know what I want. There is a hair over 25 gallons in my 29 gallon tank.
I already have:
-------------------------------
1 Molly ( 3 inches)
1 gold barb (3inches) ( 6 total)

I'd like to add the following:
-------------------------------
1 Dwarf Gourami (3 inches) (9 total)
1 Pleco (6 inches) (15 Total)
4 Cherry Barbs (8 inches) (23 inches)

Will my gold barb be OK with the cherry? or am I going to have to go all gold. I don't want any mollies cause of breeding and they always fight when I am around. I want the pleco and the gourami as the show pieces of the tank. I am selecting a breed from the catfish website that does not peak over 6 inches. If however it does, I spoke with my LFS and they will take him or find him a good home ( or maybe i can just get a bigger tank )

This leaves me with a theoretical 2 inches left over That I feel no need to fill at this point. I'm wavering on tetras or barbs but the dwarf and pleco are not up for discussion I find them to be two of the most beautiful freshwater species available to me.

I think I'll get the Dwarf first then in two weeks the barbs/tetras/ then finally the pleco as I'll really have nothing for him to eat if i get him first.

What do you guys think.

what kind of pleco are going to get? stay with bristlenose, they grow to be small, most plecos will grow to be over a foot in length. as for feeding them, they will accept sinking algae wafers, i would try and get a couple of more gold barbs, cherry barbs are nice too though

Hard to be sure on the barbs, but they might shoal or they might kill the gold. They are semi-aggressive and I'd probably stay with 1 type of barb in a tank. I agree, a BN Pleco would be cool for the tank.

The mollie and the gold barb are like best friends, I'm wondering if i can get a shark in there either rainbow or iridescent (sp?). Beh, I think the barbs will do better together, I'll just go get another tank I'm sure the wife will be thrilled LOL

you could put a single shark in the tank, it might be aggressive towards the molly though, the barbs are fast enough swimmers to stay out its way, as for species, the iredesecent is way too big, adults cn grow to be 4ft in length and up to 100lbs, so i would stay with red tail sharks or rainbow, you might be able to get way with a bala shark shark too, though they have the potential to reach 13" i think 8-10 is more likely

I've been told by others on the forum that the barb thing could work.
In addition to the bristlenose pleco, you can also get anything of the peckoltia species (much harder to find than the bristlenose), as they grow to about 3".
