I absolutely love the look of real plants in my tank, but am a little perplexed as to why my
LFS sold me silver dollars and java ferns on the same day? Now I have sword, hairgrass, anubis, a random plant i grew from a bulb, and java moss in my tank. My silver dollars appear to leave all of my plants totally alone with the exception of my hair grass (it looks as though it was mowed down..lol). I'm thinking that might be ok though because hairgrass should be trimmed to promote new growth. I was just curious if anyone would know why my plants are ok so far? Should i just move all my plants to my ten gallon to be safe? I'm kind of torn, because i love my dollars and my plants. My cory's love my plants too; They just recently spawned on my java fern. The dollars seem to be content as long as they're fed on time. I fed them later than usual on Christmas, and almost as if to spite me they mowed down my hairgrass.
On a side note, do you think guppies would be ok in a community tank with my fish? I have two albino cory's, with possibly more (waiting on the eggs), three silver dollars, two white clouds, 4 colored skirt tetra. My whiptail pleco (is it a pleco or a catfish?), and guppies are in my ten gallon quarantine for now. I really love the look of guppies, and figured that my other fish would keep the fry in check.
