breeder net verses breeder box?

Any suggestions on the breeder net verses the breeder box. I bought a breeder net today for my dalamation molly that is about to have her fry soon and it just seems like a much bigger area than the actual box, (plus much cheaper). The box looked so confusing to me. Can you put more that one female in the net? It looks like the other female we have is expecting as well, any suggestions would be great...thanks!

Re: breeder net verses breeder box?

I have a clear breed-n-show box....A large one (4"x8") that can be divided into two separate compartments. It's actually easier to use IMO because the fry slip through the grate in the bottom and out of the way of the mother. If not separated in time, the danger of the adult eating the fry increases.

Re: breeder net verses breeder box?

my mollie just had fry we used a breeder box it kept the babbies away from the mother and other fish so they won't get eaten.... hope that helps.. and yes you can put 2 females in one box but be careful they may get agressive due to the lack of space...

Re: breeder net verses breeder box?

a net breeder will only work if you have floating plants (or whatever, something floating, I guess it could even be yarn) for the babies to hide in. Otherwise the mom might eat her babies.

Most net breeders have some sort of plants or grass in them to provide cover.
