First of all, welcome to Fishlore.
Second of all, there are only a few people on this late at night (the majority of the users are in the US, in case you're not, and it's nearly 10 central time), so it sometimes takes awhile for someone to notice a new thread and respond. It's not that anyone is ignoring you. This forum has one of the best reply rates that I've ever seen. (I only have one thread that nobody has responded to, and that's counting threads that I didn't expect responses to).
If I'm understanding right, you've got some convict cichlids that are sitting toward the bottom of the tank, crowding near the edge. Is this correct?
I've got a few questions that will help us determine what (if anything) is wrong.
How long ago did you get them?
What are the current water parameters? (Ammonia, Nitrates, Nitrites, pH, water temp)
What size tank do you have?
How many fish are in the tank?
What water treatment have you used?
I (or another member) may come up with other questions as you provide answers. Be patient with us, and we will do our best to help you figure out what's going on.

First sorry for not saying hello and welcome to fishLore
Can you take some of the water in the tank to the shop where you got the fish from and ask them to test it for you. you will need a glass jar thats very clean and has been washed in hot water DO NOT USE SOAP. LET IT DRY. then get some water from the tank. In a bucket mix some new water, follow the directions on the bottle, have this ready you may need it.
Do you have a heater for the fish tank? if you do'nt, you need to get one quick. do you have a thermometer? (tells you how cold/hot the water is)
