could anyone tell me what a furry cacoon is that is on my plastic plant near my filter is please my husband noticed it tonight and i have no idea what it is i would be grateful for any hints

Probably a dead fish if it is inside the water. The "furry" does it look milky white like fuzzy cotton? If so that would be the bacteria eatting the slime coat of the fish as it decays.

If you could post pictures we could answer it more precisely.

thanks you were right my husband got it out it was a neon that went missing 1 week ago we looked every where for it and now it just popped up

Glad I could be of assistance. Sometimes fish can be like dogs, they try to get away from others and be alone to die.

you might want to check the water chemistry to be on the safe side to see where it's at now.
