A few questions about my quarantine tank

I just bought 2 ghost shrimps and 2 platys, so I prepared the quarantine tank, which is 7 gallons (maybe 8). Everything is set: Gravel, airstone, filter, hiding places, water, etc. I turned on the filter. But, I have a couple of questions:

1. The water I put into the tank was from our underground pump, so we don't need chlorine neutralizer. I was surprised to see some wrigglers (baby mosquitoes that look like worms) swimming in the water. I haven't put the fishes yet. Are wrigglers a problem? Or can my shrimps and fishes feast on them?

2. Does the quarantine tank need to undergo the cycle?

Well, that's all. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure about the wrigglers but you deifnantly need to let the quarantine tank cycle and you should keep it cycled by having something in there, people often use snails or shrimp or feeder fish.

If you have a tank already setup put the filter media or some of the substrate, or something that would've grown the good bacteria in the Q-tank. That will help it cycle quicker. As far as mosquito larvae, that is a food for fish and probably shrimp too if they can get it down to their size. Mosquito larvae is also called bloodworms.

Thanks for the advice guys! I finally know what bloodworms are! And they are swarming all over our bathroom! Hehe

I think the cycle's going to speed up because I took some rocks, gravel and filter media from my cycled main tank.

Bloodworms! My fish can finally have some live foods!

i think cycling fishless is a good idea for a quarantine tank, since it would be empty other than when you have fish in quarantine.
