Switching fish

I have a ten gallon tank set up
I also have a 35g that is getting overcrowded
I'm going to be switching some fish over which ones?
balloon mollies
dwarf platys
hifin platys
variatus

Without getting into specifics, just bear in mind:
  • the nr inch of fish per gallon rule (and be conservative on that one with mollies, who are huge polluters).
  • the fact that to every livebearer male, you'd really need about 3 females of the same species; and if you have a same gender per species tank, you'd need about 3 per gender/species (e.g. 3 male mollies) to prevent bullying

balloon mollies are only about an inch and a half about half the size of an adult marble mollie
these fish arent really bullies though nor are they all that fast

i think you could move those to a 10g.. they should be under 10" total, adult size.

thry are doing very well now
im thinking about getting some more balloon mollies
they are so calm, small and they have nice colors aspecially the orange males

are you getting the same gender for the balloon mollies? pregnancy can easily be fatal to them, with fry even eating through the mother to get out.

well i do have a female that is quite ripe
she has been chasing the other fish away is that a sign that she might be having them is it safe to put her in a breeder cage

she does sound like she's getting ready to have them soon. hard to say how long until she does, but it sounds like any time now.
