are coarls n shells good fr n fresh water acqurium??

pls suggest me ,are coarls n shells good fr n fresh water acqurium??
i kept thm fr few days n thn i removed recently whn smbdy told me coarls r fr merine fishes only n they cn b harmfull fr fresh water fishes as they dispatch sm white pwder typ of thing ..
n 1 of swortail also died recently i wonder tht might b thy reason

Corals and shells in your tank will raise your both the carbonate hardness and pH. So if you have acidic tank loving fishes, its not great for them. Also playing with you kh and ph tends to make your water less stable (sounds odd as more kh makes it harder for ph swings, but it really does seem to make it less stable in the long run), and should only be done if you have too etc.

yes, i'd definitely not recommend putting those in a freshwater tank so the answer would be no.
