| Shipping Fish I have a very bad local pet shop with very small variety. I know I can order fish to be shipped over the internet but I wasn't sure if that would harm them. According to my research they are knocked out with a drug and lain on wet sponges with some aeration method. Will they be okay afterwords?

| Re: Shipping Fish We actually do not order from anyone who uses bag-buddies (aka the method with sponges soaked in tranquilizer.) It is harder for fish to recover from tranquilizer. We have successfully shipped fish by just putting them in the fish bags with water, in a styro or cooler with plenty of shipping paper/cushy materials and taped securely. |

| Re: Shipping Fish I'm glad that not all online shops tranquilize them. In town there is a really bad shop and there is another 4 hours away. I think shipping might be the only way for me to get good fish. Thanks for telling me about aquabid.

Beeboy | I have been wondering, how can you order fish to be shipped over the internet? Our US. Senator Ted Stevens made the news this past winter when he was explaining to news reporters how e-mails get backed up, cause the internet is like a tube! Is that it?
Actually Beeboy, I just made my first aquabid purchase yesterday!!! It was fun, and easy, and time will tell how the fish do in transit. I feel like the folks I am buying from know quite a bit about fish, so if it works, I'll have some lovely fish that aren't available around here!
Good Luck

| Re: Shipping Fish we'll be shipping all of our fish overnight to Denver and with the help & advice that Dino has given us, expect them to get there safely. If a seller packs the way that Dino does, it's a safe way for the fish to travel. |

| Re: Shipping Fish This sounds easier than traveling with small children........Hummmmmmmmm, Maybe that is an idea! Pack them and ship them overnight!
This is coming up soon isn't it? Well I wish you all good travels, and will know soon how it all goes. Do you have a place all picked out in Denver? It seems like even if the shipping is overnight, on the other end there could be some delay before you could be ready to unpack your fish....Hope it all works out.

| Re: Shipping Fish we'll have some large storage containers there and i'll be taking azoo palm filters and visitherm stealth heaters for each one, so as soon as i get them, they can start getting acclimated. |

| Re: Shipping Fish AND fit in a box under 108 " !
I used to work at a Post Office, and one day, one of the boxes waiting to be picked up started making a noise. Come to find out someone had shipped their alarm clock, and it accidently went off!!! If you don't think we were surprised!
Well if the kids wake up! I can just see it now......

| Re: Shipping Fish My very best friend is nearing retirement from Postal Service, I hear all sorts of stories. Like an entire metropolitan post office shutting down due to a leaky package of microworms. (The package was packed extra well, it was negligence of postal workers that caused it, but still. ) |
