my boyfriend is going to stock his 10gal soon and were looking for ideas for fish to put in it. he doesn't want really small fish like minnows, or neon tetras, or anything plain like mollys or platys...what are some good fish that get a reasonble size without requiring a bigger tank, preferably really colorful, and unique looking fish.

How about some tiger barbs? they are real cute, exciting, and chase each othe around quite a bit. They only get about 2 inches I believe. I'g get about 4 or5.

no tiger barbs they need at least 20 gallons more like 30 since they are very active maybe some shell dewller cichlids dwarf gourami like fish r friend said im sure if you go the a lfs and look at the fish find some you like go home and find there tank requirements thats what i would do since i cant think of anymore large fish for a 10 gallon

Why not bettas? they can live in teenie weeny tanks have ginormous fins and are a real eye pleaser... very ez to take care of
