Another fish question...

I have another fish question about my new fish.

As I state in another post, I just got 3 new fish Sat. a week ago; a red male platy and 2 female mollies, a platinum and orange one. I am feeding them twice a day and watching the intake as I've had a water problem in the past due to the excessive food turning to waste.

So, I'm feeding the fish more than I was before when I just had my one guppy and they're just eating up the food like crazy. You'd think they're starving right... but I also put one of those wafers in the tank at night for my algae eater as I don't have a lot of algae buildup yet cuz I did a complete clean out about a month ago. The three new fish go right after that wafer right after they've eaten all their flake food. Poor Argyle doesn't even get much of it. Is it normal for these guys to go after that wafer even after they've eaten all that flake food?

Just wondering. Thanks.

Re: Another fish question...

Platys are stomachs with fins and it's hard to find something that they won't eat and they'll happily overeat every chance they get.

Re: Another fish question...

Try putting the wafer in at night, after lights out. Depending on what king of algae eater you have, some of them tend to be night scavengers anyway, and by putting their food in at night, you decrease the competition from their tankmates.

Re: Another fish question...

try breaking it into smaller pieces and hiding them in different spots too. it might increase the odds of the platys not eating them all.

if someone could invent a wafer that ONLY catfish would touch, they'd be rich.
