I thought about it. they're kinda cool looking. But I know adult angels eat little fish, and there's no way an angel would miss a little flourescent fish, so..............

Only larger tetras. Smaller ones like Neons or Glowlights will often become Angelfish lunch.

Re: why do so many newbies get glofish...

I think goldfish are the standard. Goldfish have been put into our head through tv shows, CARTOONS... all forms of media... storybooks. Think back to before we all had tanks... if someone said "fishbowl" or "fishtank"... what would we have automatically thought? "GOLD-fish-bowl"....

We were all conditioned!! But now we have been enlightened!!

hahaha okay.... COMPLETELY DISREGARD WHAT I SAID!!

I just got finished reading a post about glo-fish danios and someone made a mistake about glofish vs. goldfish. Then I come here and spew off some goldfish speech and it's not even about goldfish!!

Re: why do so many newbies get glofish...

When I bought my Glofish,I made sure that I can put them with the fish that I have. But it didn't make a difference, they killed them anyway, well they left 4 alive. But I never wanted any Tetras or Danios,I wanted all Angelfish. And I couldn't keep any of them alive,no matter what I did. When we lived in Germany I had 2 big Angels and I did everything wrong that you could possably do wrong and they did great ,they wouldn't stop laying eggs. Now living in the U.S. I did everything by the book and they died.

Could you please let me know why, it is not possible to keep glofish (zebra danios) with neons or dwarf gourami.

Mine is in a 42 G with serpae tetras and they don't bother each other at all..

I was also planning to get a dwarf gourami soon.. Will it cause problems?

Re: why do so many newbies get glofish...

the altered bright coloring attracts other fish and causes them to be viewed as targets by many fish. gourami are territorial and neons can be little fin nippers.. so disaster could be inevitable.
