Well I finally got some Cory Cats Panda Cories to be more specific. I am actually kinda worried about them. I got 4 of them Friday and they seem too afraid to come out. The Tiger Barbs chased them for a bit but it didn't look like the Tigers were trying to hurt the Cories, more like they were curious, and recently the Tigers are not chasing the Cories as much. What concerns me is the Cories seem to be staying apart from each other. Everything I read says that Cories are Schoaling fish that enjoy each others company. Mine seem to be at different parts of the tank, one will hide under the rocks, another one will be in the caves and the other two are somewhere else. Typically I can only find one or two at a time. I was actually worried that one or two of them had died, since I hadn't seen all four at once, but Sunday evening I was able to locate all four of them, all separate. Occasionally I will see one of them on top of a rock foraging for food or going to the surface for air, but they are normally hiding out somewhere.

Is this just normal behavior because they are not used to the new surroundings or should I be worried?

Forgot to mention that my water chemitry is good Amonia-0 nitrite-0 nitrate- between 5 and 10

Hopefully they will settle down and come out more. Panda corys are more delicate than other corys, so keet the water quality up.

as far as i know my cories dont do much during the day and may be in different spots but at night wen the light is out or its feeding time they come out and look for food together and play

My cories are just the opposite. They like to be active all day and at night they huddle together for rest. They are loads of fun to watch!

Thanks for all of your replies I think I have some new information on the subject though. I was at another petstore last night picking up some food and I noticed all of the Panda Cories there were *much* bigger than the ones I have. I think the ones I have are probably babies. I am now guessing that they are so shy because they are young and may not have been around other, bigger fish before. They seemed to be a little more active yesterday. Its still hard to count more than two or three of them at a time but I am hoping that as they get bigger they will become more adventurous and more social.

Keep an eye out for them. They may have ICH. I lost my entire aquarium a few weeks ago. Now I have a larger aquarium and they have it again. Don't know for sure what's going on but I keep the water temp the same when I do a partial change and add chlorine treatments ect. You won't see the Ich unless you have a light on . Preferably Flourescent one. If I lose this batch of fish I may retire from this hobby. They are fun to watch but too much work so far and die very quickly..

When new fish are added, they tend to hide, while sometimes the old fish will fight them a bit to establish dominance. My Otocinclus I got 3 weeks ago are still very scared of me and don't swim together much. As long as there aren't signs of disease or stress, just give them some time.

Pandas are very sensitive to stress and water conditions, on top of that they are shy and don't compete for food well. You may have to make sure they get enough to eat by feeding them after lights out or drop food in two different places if you have other bottom feeders.
All the pandas I've seen in the stores lately have been extremely small.
