| more fish to be added soon! heres what i was thinking i would get to add to my tank
-1 Candy Stripe Pleco (L-137) or Starry Night Pleco (L-183)
-10 Cardinal Tetras
as far as i can tell, these should get along with my paradise fish(2) and blue gourami(1) pretty well |

| Re: more fish to be added soon! Hey bro, if your gonna do cardinals, you gotta go with more than 6 (not needed tho). Cardinals and Neons and best in groups of 10 or more. I have 8 Neons and I need to add more for the color. |

| Re: more fish to be added soon! I would go with a peckoltia pleco over a "normal" pleco. Peckoltia plecos are smaller than their cousins. (Not entirely sure about the tiger pleco, though, so that might be good, too). |

| Re: more fish to be added soon! "Hearty, fast-growing plants..." are suggested for both kinds of pleco. They probably munch on large plants as well as algae. Make sure you've got enough plants in. |

| Re: more fish to be added soon! TANK UPATE
i went to have my water tested today, my ammonia is peaking, nitrites & some nitrates are showing up, my pH is down to 7.2
i bought some new silk plants...fish seem a little more relaxed
i also was driving by wally world and decided to go check out their selection, i was really suprised i only saw 2 dead fish...not including common goldfish...and i found a 5 gal. hex. tank for $30, which i plan on buying when i get paid (hopefully soon) |

| Re: more fish to be added soon! even a single ram...the batch at the lfs was in a display tank with a bunch of other community fish(tetras, livebearers, etc.)
the rams are only 3/4 of an inch big...and my male paradise is 2.5 inches...would there still be trouble?? |

| Re: more fish to be added soon! unfortunately, trouble is most likely since you'd be dealing with multiple fish that have aggressive territorial behavior.. but there's even a chance of that with multiple gourami. trouble isn't 100%, but it's something to consider with these fish. |

| Re: more fish to be added soon! okay
i only have 1 male paradise, and he only gets territorial while i am near the tank...and thats only towards the female paradise...he ignores the female blue, so i dont think i have any trouble yet
ive noticed that the paradise fish will swim together sometimes, but at other times when the female comes over to the male, he will chase her off...but she comes right back |

| Re: more fish to be added soon! Are there Angels that stay small? Remember that, just because they have the little [SM] next to their name at the pet store, that doesn't mean that they'll stay that way. If there aren't any "Dwarf Angels", then the Angels you get will eventually grow to be 6" apiece. Plus the Blue Gourami (also a potential 6"), and that's 18". Three Cory's adds up to 7.5" (we'll say 8), so that's 26".
I don't know how big Paradise Fish can grow to be, but if they stay small, you'll only be pushing your bioload a little bit. If they're big fish, you'll be pushing it a lot. I'm not one to complain too much about this, since I had a tank loaded up with a large goldfish, a small koi (still larger than the goldfish), three orange barbs, a glassfish, a Cory, and two otos. |

| Re: more fish to be added soon! well, i wouldn't worry about the bioload so much as aggressiveness, i have 2 filters that give me A LOT of filterage...is that a word?
anyways i would go with one , but i dont want it to get lonely, so i was gonna get another |

| Re: more fish to be added soon! Filters will work on your bioload to a point, but as they don't remove toxins, they just reduce them to a less-toxic form, you'll still have to do more water changes to keep your fish happy.
There shouldn't be an issue with aggressiveness, as long as the Angels don't pair up and begin mating. If that happens, they may become aggressive during mating season. The Cories will probably do ok during this time, because they'll just stay out of the way, but the gourami and paradise fish might become targets. Of course, you could try the "time out" method. It seems to have worked in other cases. |

| Re: more fish to be added soon! Excellent on the new tank!
As for time outs, if we could get one of the folks with Mollies in here, they've got some ideas for time outs that don't actually involve removing the fish, just isolating them in the tank.
(I'll search for the thread, too, I just don't have much time online this morning) |
