Just wondering, been cycling tank for about three and a half weeks now and filters are reel dirty and backing up to where the water is flowing over the pump wall instead of through the filters. I've read to leave the filters in until the cycle is complete and I've also read to change them every month. Any answers

Take a bucket of used tank water and swish the filter cartridge in the bucket, you'l be surprised as to how much junk will come off, just do this every week or so and you can keep re-using the same filter cartridge for a long time, works great just make sure it's used tank water
