I have just finished some tank maintanance and on plugging my filter back in it is now not working

What should i do as it is now evening and i cant even guarantee i can get to my LFS 2moro to buy a new one.
Is this really disastourous or not? Should i expect floating fish overnight?

I dont know what to do and the pain is i was only at the LFS today buying some live food!
I was planning on buying a new filter in the foreseeable future anyways as the one i have now is like 6years old and i now i am supposed to run them both for a month when i get it, but how do i do that now?

I have spent so long getting my tank parameters perfect, this is such a pain in the butt!

Any thoughts please mucho appreciated!

Did you clean the filter espceially the impeller, in not do this and if you have an airstone and pump plug it in now to help with water circulation, no the fish shouldn't die if it's just overnight.

Definitely check the impeller. What kind of filter do you have?

Erm its a proper old one, like an aquapet one or something- it was really modern and good when i got it.
I did clean all the impellor and stuff, i even checked the fuse. My dad drove me bk to the store today and i bought a new filter which is rly good, it is amazing how much better it is from my old one! It has a liuttle thing on top too like a minipower head which also puts bubbles into the water like an airstone, it is fantastic and it only cost £21.99 or something, my tetras and danios love it and keep swimming into it. Also i was able to put in it my old sponge alongaside the carbon sponge, this was suggested by the LFS who were v helpful so fingers crossed! I am also going to feed them every 2 days just for a week to lessen the amount of food in the aquarium while the filter adjusts, but i figure everything should be okay.
