sponges

Hey I think I can do this but just wanted to get some opinions, all are welcomed. I am running a Lee's corner filter in my 2.5 gallon tank and I'm thinking if I run two very small sponge filters they will act as a bio-wheel sorta and that way I can change the filter fiber in the corner filter often with out having to recycle my tank because it's clear and you see all the junk.

Re: sponges

You could probably run one sponge filter and not need the corner filter. Just rinse the sponge out in used tank water. If you still want to run teh corner filter then the answer is yes

Re: sponges

http://animal-world.com/pups/shop.ph...er_Single.html That's the one I would get, a little large, maybe too large but if I did get it how long should I leave the corner filter in there until I can safely take it out without starting my cycle all over? 4 weeks?

Re: sponges

I like the first one best, you could leave it in about a month should be seeded plenty by then.

Re: sponges

Just a word about the Corner Filter.* There is a post somewhere in the forum and I have looked but cannot find it, but there was a person who had one of the corner filters and kept losing fish with them getting caught behind them.* She had written to the manufacturer and got no satisfaction from them so she wrote in to the forum and wanted to know if anyone else had a problem.* I remember because I told her about some of my Otos getting stuck behind some of the equipment in my tank.* Just a word to the wise.* FYI. I am not talking about the sponge filters - they look really neat and I am like Butterfly, I like the first one better.

Re: sponges

I have used tetra sponge filters since forever. One in your first post looks similar. They do a great job.

Re: sponges

Yup if you are not careful the fish can get stuck behind the corner filters.
