Hello

We have an old 7 gallon tank and decided to use it as a quarantine tank. I was wondering: what filter should I use? A box filter, or sponge filter? We currently have both filters, but are using the box filter(medium-large in size) for now. I found out that the box filter only does chemical and mechanical filtration, and only a very small biological filtration. I heard that sponge filter is very good at biological filteration, but I'm not sure if it's good at mechanical and chemical filtration. What do you think I should use? The tank currently has a black molly with ick.
