Alright I recently removed my corkscrew plants because my guppies were eating them like they have never ever seen food in there life. Since they attacked it so hard I had a bunch of leaves that came off the plant when they were eating it.

These leaves are now blocking my filter and decaying raising my ammonia levels. However I can not remove it. When I take my filter out it drops back into the water. And my net is to big to put under the filter if I take it out in hopes of the leaves falling into the net.

Any suggestions on how to remove these leaves?

What kind of filter do you have? Where are they getting stuck on it? How big are the leaves? Can you not just turn the filter off and use a fish net to scoop the leaves out?

i have a Topfin 30. They are getting stuck were the water gets sucked in. The leaves are like 1-2 inches long. And I can not use a net to get them out because the filter is right behind my driftwood. If I move my driftwood all my tubbing will come out and its a hassle trying to get it back buried under the driftwood. But I guess If I have to I can run out and go get one of those small 2" nets to do the job. I was just looking for other options.

So when you turn off the filter the leaves fall back behind the driftwood right? So what if you keep the power on for the filter and lift it up so you can get the net under the filter intake, making sure not to take the intake out of the water of course. Then turn off the filter and let the leaves fall into the net. Just an idea, if the driftwood is not too high in the water.
