Woohoo, got a new filter!!!

OK, I had to share this. Because I got loaches, I really wanted my tank properly filtered. I'd been using the filtration system that came with my tank (Ferplast Cayman Scenic 150L), but that was making noises every week, getting clogged up and all. Plus it was a huge unit taking lots of space in the tank.

So I've bought myself my first external filter (Eheim, as I figured I might as well put the money in for something that will last me 20 years, rather than spending each year on a new unit).

So now, they're got two small filters in there for current (they have that nice outlet streaming tube that creates a little current), and that one.

That should make these loaches happy!

Setting it up was a little tough, as we couldnt' get the vaccuum going. So Thijs started using his mouth to get it started, and swallowed a lot of aquarium water. This morning and for the whole of last night, he's had a belly ache. I hope it's not related.

Eheim sounds great What type (i.e. canister?) and what model? How many GPH does it pump? If I ever get another canister again, it will be Eheim as well

By "he" you mean your husband? Swallowed aquarium water !!! Yuck! But I'msure he'll be fine ... although it's actually not very safe to swallow tank water!

Oh I have no idea, LOL. It looks like this: http://www.charterhouse-aquatics.co....c42345521ea2f4.

Soooo quiet too! I was amazed. I imagined it would be really loud, but you can hearly hear it!

No idea which type. It's the one that does 500L/H.

My fish dont' have sex, young man. How DARE you!!! My fish are mollies, I'll have you know, exemplary behaviour, always. They're all saving themselves. They are innocence made fish.

Mmmh. OK, OK, I see your point. No more drinking tank water!

Armadillo, that's a "Professional" series of Eheim's canister filters That's the one I want I am so jealous your filter is so quiet because my Rena Filstar's XP3 canister filter is VERY loud. It's a good filter in general, but waayyy to loud for me. That's one of the reasons I want either 2 Aqua Clears (one on each side) or one good Eheim canister filter in my 75 gallon tank. I think I'll replace the XP3 eventually either with 2 Aqua Clears or with one good Eheim. Anyway, you've made a great choice on your filter
