Hi all,
Wasn't sure if the "Filters and Filtration" was the best place to post this, so apologies if I've posted incorrectly.
I'm running an Eheim 2224 and during a recent filter change I managed to mangle (somewhat) the various gasket/seals. The seals are at least 4 or more years old and had slightly deteriorated. Yes, yes, I know I should of not forced the lid down when it just didn't sit right. So because the sealing gaskets between the media baskets were in bad shape I removed them. On the initial startup after the media change the primary gasket leaked slightly and then settled down and its been running without any sign of seepage, but I fear that next time I do a media change that the primary sealing gasket has been damaged and might not do the job.
Since I lack any LFS which stock Eheim (I'm in Winnipeg, in central Canada) I'm looking at purchasing online the Eheim parts. Probably from a Canadian or US source since I'm in Canada.
A quick Google on "Eheim 2224 parts" reveals a lot of UK and overseas sources, but I did find:
http://www.aquariumpros.com
Any thoughts on them or recommendations for other online outlets?
Also, any experience with normal lifetime of these seals? Also, could you (or should you) do anything to help prolong the lifetime of these various seals (i.e. a very mild lubrication with a teflon O-ring type lubricant before seating them

)
Thanks in advance.
... Bill
