spyware adware etc.

Something on the forum may be infested with spyware or adaware or whatever those things are called.

I don't have any other windows or tabs open, but when I clicked on something in the forum, my Webroot AntiVrius and McAfee flashed warnings and stopped it from downloading.

I just want to bring this to the attention of whoever cares about this sort of thing I don't know if this is normal, but I thought I should mention it.

Thanks.

hmm that's odd... mine doesnt do that... Could it be you have a worm in your sistem and whenever you open a page it warns you not to do so?

When i had an old computer, it was infested with a virus. Whenver i opened the internet ( google homepage) it wouldnt let me on because i had a virus. I had to delete the file the virus was on and everything went back to normal. I find it odd though...
what antivirus are you using?

huh. I'm not sure which post/tab I clicked when it happened & it's the first time it's done that.

...I use Webroot AntiVirus with AntiSpyware (all good stuff) and McAfee (dumb, but I got it free). I quick scan every day and full scan twice a week - a little overkill, I know, but I use this laptop for school and teaching, so not worth a risk. Not even the Norton AntiVirus 2009 () can get past my Webroot without being immediately blocked & quarantined. I just don't see it being something stored on my lap top. Hmmmmmmmmm.

Hopefully it's nothing. Possibly could have been my cat nudged the mouse/clicker and clicked something?... idk. I just wanted to mention it just in case.

I agree webroot is excellent, I hope you find the problem began when your cat was pouncing perhaps on the mouse? ( though it isn't likely ) Something like that wouldn't cause your pc to announce a warning. I would go to the Symantec home page and check for any listing of threats or viruses. Check your programs for any possible matches. But like all computers, all made from a bunch of dots, numbers, and letters, it could be anything even a glitch. good luck..thanks for the concern.

Maybe it was just a fluke I 'haven't had anymore pop-up warnings from either of my spy/virus thingys and I've been clicking all sorts of things for a few hours!

Ah well. Better safe than sorry.

I have all the latest software too for virus/malware/adware/etc. One that is really good is malwarebytes. It has found things the others have not for me in the past. There is a free version too: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php It might be worth downloading and running a scan using malwarebytes.

oooo I haven't heard of that one. Thanks Mike! Lol, I'm like a pack-rat with these sorts of things, and I love that this one's free.
