Last page of threads not showing

hello, got a question

In the past three days, there have been two different threads where I couldn't get to the last page. At first, I thought that maybe it was just an issue where someone had deleted their own post and caused the forum to hiccup, but I know that in the above thread this is not the case, because page 6 has at least one of my posts, and I can't get to page 6.

Lucy, the last post number I'm seeing is 90. What are you seeing? (I'm wondering if your settings are different for some reason, showing more posts per page)

While I'm not Lucy, the last post I see is post #95... which brings up another interesting point. The Freshwater Beginners forum index shows 85 replies, yet the thread has (at least) 95 posts in it.

I am curious, sirdarksol, where you're getting that there should be a sixth page. If you're at 20 posts per page, there would have to be over 100 posts for a 6th page to exist. I see 3 pages, which makes sense with me being at 40 posts per page.

edit: I switched to 20 posts per page, and saw the expected 5 pages.

Ah, that could be the reason for the different page numbers. I remember a while back editing my settings to show more per page. (Don't remember exactly where I did that.)

Like mathas, I see the last post as being #95

I'm not even sure what I'm set at (I've never changed it), but I'm going by the little page number list at the top and bottom of each page of the thread.

Something weird is going on with that thread.

If I set my posts per page to various settings now, here's what happens:

Use Forum Default: 6 pages, last post is #93
20 Posts Per page: 6 pages, last post is #93
30 Posts Per page: 4 pages, last post is #93
40 Posts Per page: 3 pages, last post is #93

When I checked earlier this morning, as Lucy said, the last post was #95. The forum index is now correctly reporting 92 replies instead of the 85 it had earlier.

Everything seems to be working for me now, but it's odd that the number of posts in the thread has gone down while the forum index 'number of replies' column has gone up.

Under My Setting....go to Edit Options. Scroll down.
I have mine set to 40 posts per page.
Of course that doesn't explain why you can't see posts 91 to 95.

Also, the math for the default/20 posts per page settings is odd.

Page 1 should have posts 1-20
Page 2 should have posts 21-40
Page 3 should have posts 41-60
Page 4 should have posts 61-80
Page 5 should have posts 81-100
Page 6 should have posts 101-120

If there are 93 or 95 posts in the thread, how is it on page 6?

There are several processes that run in the background that update the forum and thread counts. Some processes run hourly, daily, every 10 minutes, etc. I just reran it manually though and things seem to be working on that thread. Maybe one of the processes got hung up or something? Not sure though.
