| Having problems with pictures Recently I have been having trouble viewing pictures. When I click on the thumbnails nothing happens except they get a gray border around them. I have tried with all the machines in my house ( 3 Macs and a PC using Safari, IE and Firefox) and get the same result. I posted a thread in the freshwater pic forum a little while ago. I was able to open the full sized images by clicking on the thumbnails. Now they now longer work. I tried creating a new thread with an image and it didn't work. I copied the text and tried posting it in another forum I visit and it worked fine. Has something change here?
Can anyone see the full size version of these? |

| I can't see the full version.
I noticed that about your pics. Others I see I can bring up the full size.
Edit: Test using photobucket:
Double Edit: Ok, mine work. I wonder if it has to do with the way you're posting pics. Are they from your computer or a photo sharing site? Last edited by Lucy; March 20th, 2009 at 09:51 PM.

| Am I doing something wrong? It seems odd that the pictures in the thread I mentioned worked initially but not now. It is also strange that the thumbnails I post in other forums works fine.
I have even tried using the pics from my FishLore gallery. In fact, the second picture in my first post is a gallery pic.
I would really appreciate any help. TIA.
Edit: Your picture works fine. I wonder what I am doing wrong.
Double Edit: My pictures are on imageshack. |

| Are you using the IMG code?
Other than that I'm at a loss.
Mike will probably see this when he signs in, maybe he can shed some light on it. |

| Here is one from Photobucket. When I preview my post I get the same problem
EDIT: I have just been copying the link provided by imageshack, the gallery or photobucket. It has always worked before. I just noticed that the "Automatically parse links in text" checkbox is checked. Does that make a difference? Last edited by wot_fan; March 20th, 2009 at 10:02 PM.

| Are your pics really little?
If you look at the properties my pic is 109979 bytes yours is 5256 bytes.
Maybe thats as much as they'll enlarge. |

| My pictures are actually pretty large. The first one in my initial post is 1280x853 and 1.1Mb (1,205,810 bytes). The original is a lot larger, but I reduced the size before I uploaded it to imageshack. Here is a direct link to the image on imageshack. |

Uncheck it and try to post the same pic. |

| That checkbox is in the Miscellaneous Options area under where you type the post text. I have unchecked it for this post. Lets see if it makes a difference. |

| Thanks for trying to help . Maybe Mike will have better luck figuring this out. This is a very strange problem. |

| I'm sure he will. Good luck, I know it's frustrating.
The only other thing I can think is not to re-size them when you upload them to a photo sharing site. |

| Unfortunately, I have to resize them before uploading or they are too big for imageshack to accept them. My new camera is a 21 MegaPixel DSLR .
Thanks again. |

| Ah man, it's that new image resizer plugin that is causing this. I changed the settings to open in a new window for linked images. If the image is not linked (no url tag, just an img tag) then it just gets resized within the post.
Great pics btw.

| Thanks Mike, that did the trick for my images. Now I am unable to enlarge the sample Lucy posted earlier in this thread. When I mouse over the image a little popup says "click the image to open in full size" but nothing happens when I click on it. Also, my pointer doesn't change from the arrow to the hand (indicating that there is a link associated with the object).
Thanks again. |

Thanks again. | I can't enlarge my pic anymore either.
When I click the pic from image shack, I can't see a pic, just the codes. Quote:

Mike | So, to open the pic in a new window we should use the url tag, not the image tag?
Testing pics:
using img code:
Using Image thumb
(This worked, however the photobucket account is in my name which for my privacy I would prefer not to be displayed when people click on my pics)
Now none of my pics enlarge in any of the threads where I used the img tag.
Crumb.......it's too much darn work to make a new photobucket account in a different name and transfer my pics there. Last edited by Lucy; March 21st, 2009 at 07:00 AM.

| just a bit off topic.. but are we back to the old way of seeing images? I loved the new click and unclick . Now its back to the old box with the x to close it. Which is fine, but sure liked the look of the new way of looking at images. |

| I liked it too Kate. Especially if someone had a problem with a fish. It was easy to look at the pic and the post at the same time.
Now none of the pics I've posted from photobucket will enlarge and I can't figure out how to post a pic that will enlarge without my name showing unless I upload it directly from my computer. Since I routinely back up and delete those pics from my computer eventually any pics I post like this will end up as red x's Last edited by Lucy; March 21st, 2009 at 07:28 AM.

Ok, Got that the ablity to enlarge part figured out. (Have to upload to FL rather than copy and paste img tag) Now to figure out how to put text above the pic for desciptions when posting multiple pics. Last edited by Lucy; March 21st, 2009 at 08:03 AM.

1. Upload the pictures using the 'Manage Attachments' window
2. Find the 'Current Attachments' section and hover your mouse cursor over the filename
3. Find the attachmentid value in the URL in the statusbar: manageattachments.jpg
4. In your post, use the [ ATTACH][ /ATTACH] tags (without the spaces) to surround that attachment ID value. For example, to display the picture in step 3 of this post, I used [ ATTACH]25383[ /ATTACH] |

Testing again:
Using url and imglink tags (url=blahblahblah)(imglink)path to image(/imagelink)(/url):
Just posting the image link (img) tag into post:
example: [ img]image path[ /img]
Testing original images using the url and imglink tags together:
example: [ url=path to image][ imglink]image path[ /imglink] [ /url] Last edited by Mike; March 21st, 2009 at 12:27 PM.
