| | Fish Keeper | where did the picture go? I've noticed in a few threads that aren't brand-new that I am seeing for the first time, the OP will be referring to their picture...and there's no picture. It's not that they never posted a picture, bc subsequent posters will be replying to the OP and also mentioning the picture.
I've also seen threads (brand new) where the OP has a pic and it's there plain as day...then I revisit the thread a day or so later and there's no picture.
Pretty sure my eyes are working ...what's going on does the picture only stay in the thread so long? |

| | Moderator | most of the time the prog they use to post their pics(photo bucket, imageshare etc), have either had a limit, they moved them from the original place and the link was cut, or they removed their pics.... |

| | Moderator | shawnie is correct If you have your pics stores somewhere (photobucket, imageshack, another website etc.) If you move or delete them they will disappear from where ever you have them posted.
Also some of the Pics in posts/threads from before Mike updated the site disappeared into picture heaven We don't know why or where they went

| | Moderator | I noticed in the last day and especially today that new threads that had photos yesterday do not have them today, not all but some. Im not sure that their photo 'time limit' would be up so fast? I also wondered what happened to the photos in those threads as well. These were not archived threads but ones that were just started in the last few days. Hopefully the folks that posted those photos will respond and let us know if they deleted them or not. |

| | Moderator | A member pm'd me last night to let me know they deleted a picture from their album which also removed it from their post.
I wonder if this is what you were seeing? (or not seeing ) |

I wonder if this is what you were seeing? (or not seeing ) | Thats very possible Lucy. ... maybe that is the thread that the OP and myself found to be missing the photos? |

| | Fish Keeper | That's why when I add pics I upload from my own computer. I have done that in the past and then deleted the original and it doesn't seem to have any effect out here in internet land.
Since I'm thinking of it - Shawnie you had a thread a short bit ago I believe was called 'grab bag of everything' or something similar, with some very lovely pictures. What I'm curious about is how you got the thumbnails embedded within the text like that? It looked really nice. Were they attached from your computer or from an outside program? Every time I attach thumbnails from my computer they all end up attached to the end of the post, and it would be nice sometimes to attach a description to each pic. (I have read all the how-to stuff, I didn't find this). |

| | Moderator | If you upload your pics to photo bucket, thenyou can copy and paste the url of the pic in your post and add descriptions.
I like seeing each pic described...type of fish..name etc. |

| | Fish Keeper | I do too...I just never get around to using something like Photobucket unless I'm sharing lots of pics w. ppl far away... |

| | Moderator | I like it because I can delete the pics on my computer but they'll still be in photobucket and in posts on the forum.
Like when Prissy got real sick or a pic of my filter and how I slowed down the flow, no sense in taking up room on the computer for those types of things. |

| | Fish Keeper | This is true. However I've had my iMac for 2.5 years now, and I still have 140 GB on the hard drive and a 320 GB external hard drive nearly empty, and not a lot of spare time.... (Yeah I do save lotsa stuff). Whichever works the easiest! |

I prefer to attach from my computer. Thanks for the info though! |

Thanks for the info though! | when you attach a pic from your computer , which is what I do, but it puts up a type format..whether you have a url from a site, or the ATTACH from uploading from your pc, you still can write txt beside the wording... Happy Face colour BOLD.JPG<--without spaces beside the number
I put spaces in where the number of the pic is so you can see it what it looks like added from your computer.. and then you can <---type whatever you want beside the last word ...does that make more sense? |
