No permission to access errors (pic attached)

Help!

For some reason, I can't see any of the options to send anyone a PM. I have used forums like this for years, so I generally know what I am doing. I can post messages (like this one), but can't send a PM. Can't even see the option to send a PM to anyone. When I was reading about it in the FAQ, I tried to click a link and got the error message that I don't have permission to access the page.

Also, when I signed up to the forum, I was sent a new member message by Mike, and when I look at it, it says I have saved 1 message out of the total 0 that I am allowed to save. However, when I try to delete it, it says I don't have permission! Help!

I know that I am logged in (you can see that in the attached pic) so I have no idea what is going on.

You might need to reach a certain level before you can send PM's. Or the person you are trying to PM doesn't accept them.
Just a guess.

I can't even get to the point where I can PM anyone. No one has the icon for doing it, as if I have never been given access to do so.

I am trying to PM Mike so that I can get a Blog on the site. The instructions say to do this. I did send an email though.

I didn't see anything that said I had to have a certain level. And even if that is the case, why wouldn't I be able to delete my private messages? Very strange.

Have you tried going to 'My settings'....located at the top?
Click on Edit Options and scroll down to 'Messaging & Notification'
Is the box allowing PM's clicked?

until you reach I think it was 100 posts, you dont have that option..but you can (I THINK) leave mike a message on his page profile...but thats new so not really sure if thats possible until you post mark hits 100 ...goodluck

Hmmmm, then I go back to my original guess, that it takes a certain level, meaning amount of posts to have that option.

One of the mods will see this thread and be able to help you.

Hmm. I didn't see that listed in any of the beginner guides. I did send Mike an actual email like the Blog Guideline post said you could, so hopefully that will work. I'm sure I'll get to 100 posts, might just take a while!

In addition, if that is the case, I wonder why I can't even delete the PM that Mike sent to me?

I remember being confused by all that when I first joined. I think once you get to the 100 post mark that Shawnie mentioned you'll have more control over that.

You'll be surprised how quickly you reach that level. I can't believe how many posts I have.

Until you have a certain amount of posts you can't send/receive pms. The reason for this is that about a year or so ago we had a person join and send pornigraphic (sp?) pictures to members at random in pms. And posted about 30 in different forums. Some of those sent pictures were young kids. so I hope you understand why we do this.

I think you have to be a "fish bum". You need two stars and you only have one but more stars come as you post more.

I asked this same question when i first joined.. Its either 25 or 50 post count before the PMs become available.

Well, I now have over 25 posts, have logged out and back in, and still do not have access to PM's. So, 25 is not the magical number. I'll try again at 50. Thanks again everyone.

Okay, the mystery is over! I have now reached 50+ posts and I can officially PM people! Thanks for all of the help and feel free to add this information to your repotoire of knowledge! Um, also feel free to close the thread.
