RESOLVED - Is there any reason why it is this slow?

First I thought it was just my desktop computer at home, but it did the same thing on my laptop at school (with wireless internet)
It takes almost 5 minutes for a page to load, there is a "hesitation" when i try to scroll down, and when I type a reply, the text on the screen can't keep up (i type words then they take a few seconds to appear.) Is there any logical reason for this, is it is just everyone's way of kicking me out ... it's frustrating to have to wait that long for everything so i've found myself not using fishlore as much as i used to/or would like).

Not sure. I've been online on and off for the past few hours and haven't noticed anything.

I had a similar problem a few days ago, but it was with all internet (not just the forums) and it turned out to be my connection.

I'd run an antivirus to make sure that your computers haven't both been infected with something.

I've been disabling some of the add-ons to see if i can find the culprit.

Re: Is there any reason why it is this slow?

Ok thanks! I've shut off the signatures, pictures, etc but it didnt seem to change anything.
I also ran the virus scan, nothing found. I have dialup at home so I can understand why it would be slow there, but I don't understand why it would be the same with wireless at school.

It was better at school today. At home it's still incredibly slow, but I think that is due to the fact that I have dialup and an older computer. But on my laptop with wireless internet it is fine. Thank you for your help!

Slow down

I think it has to do with the graphics hogging time slices when a page loads.. maybe?

i have no idea.... i just turned everything off that I could. Other than that, I have no idea. I'm not completely computer retarded, but sometimes it's pretty close.

hmmmmm.....

i was starting to type a reply when i noticed something.. the lag occured when fishlore was loading from the ad server.. as soon as that stopped, speed returned to normal. i've seen this happen at a LOT of sites.

I'm hoping the speed issues are resolved now, since it's been a couple of weeks since the last slowness complaint. I had to disable some of the unecessary items that probably wouldn't get used anyway and I worked a little on the scripting to hopefully increase the speeds. If not, do let me know please.

things seem to be running much smoother now than at first, the lag i used to get when pulling up the wysiwyg editor is gone and i'd say the speed issues are a thing of the past. thanks, the new software has really been tweaked and configured fast!
