Two thoughts

Post preview/snippet at bottom of page

I'm on another forum somewhere else where at the bottom of the main thread list for the "child boards" there is a list of the most recent topics and a snippet of the first post in that thread.

Its helpful when the title of a thread isn't descriptive enough to find a thread to post on if you have the same question without overloading the forum with 1,000 threads on the same topic.

I don't know how you do that, of course, I'm just a user.

Standard facts

It might be helpful to have a introductory post somewhere that lists all the standard facts that make it easy to give people help (tank size, type, water chemistry values, population, etc. There may be such a thing that I overlooked, however I see others may have missed it, too.

The most recent post are listed at the bottom of the forum home page. is this what you mean?

That is helpful, to be sure. What I mean is that in addition to the list of most recent posts by thread title, there would be a few words from the beginning of the first post in the thread under each.

It only is useful, of course, if posters don't start their threads with equally uniformative sentences as entitling a thread "Algae."

Something like this:

[Freshwater Beginners] Re: Tank help by FLBettaCouple: I have a tank- a very small tank and i think i need help with.....

They do something similar to this at a board I frequent, when you mouse over a thread title you see the first line of so of a post and I find it's very helpful.
