chat night? great for betta owners

Could we maybe have a chat night or a couple so everybody could make them. We could plan a date out in advance so all of us could come on at the same time to chat about bettas or something. There are chatrooms out there that you can do that right? Just thought it might be a nice thing to do, what do you think?

Everybody that has MSN(or whatever) and wants to could chat on a specific night but I don't think it should be linked with the site as in "Fishlore chat night" even if it is just the people from here. It would not be sponsored by FishLore. I believe we had a thread similar to this once before and that was what was decided.

if your computer will support it, you go to the link below and hit download. If it is a shared family computer you should get a parents permission as there is a cookie that is installed on the computer for the program and your parents have the right to decide whether to allow it.

O could we maybe use AIM instead, you don't have to download it and I'm pretty sure you can go into a private chatroom with express. I can't find it installed on our computer and I don't think my dad will want me downloading to to talk just about "fish" he doesn't understand.

http://www.aim.com/ In the top right corner it says aim express, try clicking there and see if you can make a screen name and sign on. I'm not subscribed to aol and I have aim, with aim express you don't download anything so I don't know.

I have yahoo messenger, I don't do AIM, I don't like them. No offence to the people that have it. I just don't think they are very good. Natalie

There are many free internet chatrooms available if a particular messenger program could not be decided upon.

My friends have aim so that's what I have, though I don't go on all that much.

Just my two cents on all this.. Mike, would you consider adding a chat-room to fishlore for 'getting to know each other' purposes, but more importantly, providing real time solutions to problems members may have that require immediate action.. of course I realize such a forum would have to be monitored constantly, so why not add it to the site, and have it up and running for a few hours daily.. just my two cents.

Yeah, we decided not to have a "chat room" tied into the site right now... You can add your msn or yahoo id to your profile (I think) and that would let others know how to contact you thru msn or yahoo or whatever.

ya that's why I suggested a chat night, since I think it would be kinda of cool

Mike would it be ok if we make a post here and set a date for when a bunch of us could make it and have a night for an hour or so to chat about our fish all together every so often?

ATM- as Mike said you can list your messenger service (whichever it is) in your profile then you can go on your service and decide when you want to get together and chat without doing it in the site forum. Mine shows up when i go online and whos on line without coming here to see who's here so I can talk to them.
This needs to be done totally independent of the site.
