cooking section?

how about a section under general topics titled cooking or culinary delights or something along those lines where we can exchange recipes and such?

Random Food Thread

so easy and so fun for the kids (and adult kids in all of us)

Above are two threads with Fish Lore members recipes. Enjoy!

Those could be moved to the new cooking/food section so they would be easier to find too.

Good afternoon . Send Mike a private message and I'm sure he'll be glad to take it into consideration.

I like the idea of a cooking/recipe section.

I really should go through those threads... I screwed up baked chicken a few nights ago. Sheesh!

mmmmm - baked chicken - let's see... place chicken in glass cake pan. cover with cream of chicken soup/cream of mushroom soup/cream of whatever you like soup (or any combination of cream soups). Place in oven at 375* farenheit until chicken is done. Layer shredded cheese over top and leave in oven until cheese is bubbly - about 5 minutes. Rice is optional... or dip chicken in milk then roll in crunched up doritos (nacho cheese flavor are excellent for this) or crunched up bbq flavor potato chips. Place in buttered baking dish. Bake at 375* until chicken is done - dibs on the gooey chip gunk left in the bottom of the pan!

I marinated it. Hubby refuses to eat anything with sauce involved, and barely tolerated the idea of marinade. It turned out way too dry!

Your idea sounds deeeeee-licious! I'll have to try that sometime, just for myself!

Do the one where you coat the chicken with crunchled up chips. It stays moist, but there isn't any sauce. It is almost like Kentucky Fried Chicken, but not fried. Also, if you put a small glass or bowl of water in the oven with the chicken while you cook it, it will help to keep it more moist. Mix a bit of flour in with the crunchled chips and you can add some garlic powder too. You won't need to add salt since the chips are salty enough. You can also put the chicken on a rack so the chicken is crispier all around. Just make sure that you have a pan under it to catch the drippings.

Considering the food thread has been going for months (maybe even since last year... can't remember exactly when I started it) and it only has four pages, and since there are only a couple of food-related threads, I don't think there's a huge call for such a thing.

In my opinion, a good way of looking at whether or sub-forum should be added is to ask "Are there a lot of threads of this sort cluttering a section of the forum?" If the answer is "yes," then we probably need a sub-forum for it (this is what happened with betta breeding). If the answer is "no," then we probably don't need one (yet).

Maybe instead of a sub fourm it might be better to make a cooking group? The groups don't seem to get used alot but it might be handy for this.

I think it's a great idea as well. I'm a life member of the NAFC and folks are always swapping recipes on there...
