| | Moderator | Site Status Hi All - it's been a crazy past couple of days.
What Happened?
Our host (bluehost.com) decided to suspend the fishlore account on the server for taking up too many resources. They didn't send any notice, just cut off the site. Needless to say, I was completely shocked by this unprofessional action from our host. They could have at least sent a warning or something before just cutting us off. Like "hey, your site is consuming too many resources and will be suspended in the coming days if you don't do something about it." Nope, they never did anything of the sort. I was trying for days to get them to turn the site back on so I could at least post a message stating that the site was being moved, but they would not work with me in the least.
I received lots of messages from members thinking that we suspended their accounts. Then before I could respond to those emails, they cut off everything! So, I apologize for the lack of communication on this but I was in scramble mode trying to get us back up and running.
Fortunately I've been researching new servers to move us too for a while now and was ready for moving the site, just didn't think it would happen under these circumstances. I am extremely angry with bluehost and wouldn't even recommend them to my worst enemy. The good news:
We are now on a new dedicated server with way more processing power, space and bandwidth. There is a learning curve for me in handling the entire server rather than just my own instance on a server, but I'll get there. Just may take a bit for me to get the hang of running a server.
I fully expect there to be issues over the coming days/weeks as I work thru the issues of getting the site back up and running. Please report them here in this thread or make a post in "forum issues". Thanks in advance for hanging in there with us as we transition to our new server!

| | Fish Bum | Boy am I glad to see the site up and running again. I was going through FishLore withdrawal.
I run a high-bandwidth site myself and would be completely furious at such a service disruption. I know never to consider BlueHost.
I recommend Media Temple's Grid Service if you want a scalable yet fully-managed hosting package. I like having someone else worry about security and patching. |

| | Fish Keeper | In all my time, I have not seen any reputable business delivering a service that can be so unprofessional in their action. If that is typical of the way they treat their clients, they must have some underlying issues, and will probably not be around much longer.
You are now better for the experience. Good luck in the fast tracking - nothing quite like being thrown to the wolves to sharpen your senses! |

| | Moderator | Thanks Mike! Although not happy with the company dropping FL like that, I'm glad that's what the problem was.
I was worried something had happened to you or your family.
Welcome back everyone, it's good to be here! |

| | Fish Keeper | It must have been a rough few days Mike trying to figure things out. I figured Bluehost did exactly what you said after I did a little research on them. It isnt the first time!
Anyway, thanks to Coffeebean (for use of the forum) and Emily for the great detective work!
I am glad to see things back to normal. I didnt realize just how much time I spend here!
Thanks again Mike your the best!
