| Two forum suggestions (convenience stuff) 1) Repeat the 'subscribed threads/my threads/my posts' etc buttons at the BOTTOM of the screen, just for convenience's sake (I know there's a 'top' button at the bottom of the screen)
2) In the 'New Replies' screen, have a button that goes directly to the 'first unread' post. I am quite often seeing there are new replies, then going to the thread, then clicking on First Unread. I know there's a button for for 'last post' but I can't know til I check if the last post is also the only post in the thread I haven't read yet. This would be neat across the board actually if it's possible.
Thoughts? |

Thoughts? | Both really good ideas. Especially number two. A thread can be several pages long and if you have posted to it more than once it can take a while to scroll through the pages to find what's been added. |

| Does anyone know if these things CAN be done? I don't know a lot about vBulletin. |

The only thing with this suggestion, is without reading what others have suggested throughout the entire thread, you could be repeating the same info over again that has already been suggested or advised |

Suppose I have read every entry on a thread and then posted myself. Later when I hit new replies I can go to that thread and then scroll through to find my post to see what's been added by other members since I made my post. I have already read the posts that were in the thread before I posted and there would be no reason to read every post again every time I go to the same thread. A button for the last unread post would take you right back to the page in the thread where your post is so you could pick up the conversation where you left off by going right to what's been added.
There is a last post button but if there have been two pages since you commented then you still end up scrolling to find your last post.
I wouldn't read just the first post in the thread and then comment or go back and comment again right after my own comment.
Hopefully I explained what I meant better. Not a big deal but I agree that it would be convenient. |

Taking the buttons that appear at the top of the screen and repeating them at the bottom would just be to save scrolling back up or hitting 'back' or such... |

| When I click new replies, I like to review the entire thread again just to refresh my memory of someone particular problem. |

| 1) I like this idea. Added.
2) I like this idea too, but I'm not sure how to implement. I'll have to stew on it for a bit and maybe check vbulletin.org to see if something already exists that would let us do that.
Thanks,
Mike |

If you look at the New Replies search result set, threads with unread posts have a small square button in front of them (the same graphic used by the 'View first unread' link within the thread) that has a tooltip of 'Go to first new post' when you hover the pointer over it. I've highlighted it in this image, as well as included the tooltip. newpost.jpg
In my (limited) testing, clicking that easily-to-overlook button seems to function like you're requesting. |
