Suggestion: enlarge the size of the editor window.

I was thinking it would be great to have the option to enlarge the editor window to full screen, such as some email programs do that use a similar interface. I know there's buttons that make it 'larger', but they really make it longer, I'm thinking wwwiiiiddde. Not even sure this can be done? (or maybe it's already available and I just don't realize it? ) It would be especially helpful when you're copying/pasting stuff into a post say, or want to include lots of pictures. Not complaining at all about how it is now, just thought it would be a nice option. What do you all think?

You know how when you're typing a post there's the little white box you type in...in some web-based email editors there's an option you can choose that maximizes that 'box' to full screen or nearly so. It's a big bonus if you're inserting pictures or have long web links or are copying/pasting large amounts of stuff, bc then you can see it all. Not that the current setup has anything wrong with it of course, I thought the option (if possible) would be nice. I'd screenshot it but I'm at work atm....

Oh, I understand what you're saying. Hmmm, don't know if that's an option.
I guess Mike didn't see this otherwise he would have commented.
He'll probably see it next time he's on.

I did some looking around on vbulletin.org and don't think that kind of functionality is available or I've totally overlooked something.

If we're talking about what I think we're talking about, you can do this on your own.
Just to the left of the pair of "A's" in the upper right hand corner of the dark grey message box (just above the white window you type in) are a pair of double arrows. Click the down one and you increase the size. Click the up arrow, and you decrease the size.

Yup found that, I had been wondering originally if the window could be maximized (made wider).

prairielilly, bottom right hand corner of reply window, there are two diagonal lines, drag to the right to widen the screen and down to lengthen.

hmmm, no diagonal lines...must be a Mac thing (or a firefox thing). Doesn't matter, Mike said we don't have that functionality so all ok. Thanks though.

I can't get the resize option wabash mentioned to show up unless I use Safari.

OS X + Firefox 3 = no
Windows Server 2008 + Firefox 3 = no
Windows Server 2008 + IE7 = no
Windows 7 beta + IE8 beta = no

OS X + Safari 3 = yes
Windows Server 2008 + Safari 4 beta = yes

Even when it does work, it leaves the left margin in place, which reduces the effectiveness somewhat.

Well, what Mike said was he couldn't find any built-in functionality for editor resizing. It could theoretically be done by modifying the vBulletin source code (I tried using my local cached CSS file and it worked fine), but that sounds like it could be time-intensive.

An alternative is also mentioned here, but I'm not sure if that just resizes the container or the textbox as well.

And could potentially affect the functionality of vBulletin. Since Fishlore is a big forum, it's best if we stick with well-tested add-ons.

Anyway, this was a minor change, and PrairieLilly's said that all's good, so it sounds like we're doing okay as-is.

Thanks, everyone, for taking the time to try to figure out solutions.
