hmm, I think I got a good idea...

Hi all, I think I have a suggestion on the layout of the forum. you know how we all have those moments when we jump on here and type one of those help ASAP sick fish threads? well what if under everyone's aquarium info we had a little tab called "my medicine cabinet"? that way people could list and update the meds they have readily available in their "fish medicine cabinet", that way we don't have to go through the confusion of what the person has available to treat the fish with. it would save lots of unnecessary hassle and wasted time. what does everyone think? would it be a good idea Mike? -fishlover78

so what do you think of everyone having their own little "medicine cabinet" info tab Shawnie? I understand that YOU barley ever use meds in your tanks but that is not the case for others. what do you think Mike?

thanks!

Personally I dont care for the idea. Its sort of like a Dr putting up a list of meds and saying.. try this. We still need to know a lot about the problem before we can figure out a cure and it would never be a good idea to recommend a med without a lot of information first.
There are a lot of sticky threads in the forum on types of meds and what they treat already.

well, we are obviously in a mutual disagreement Capekate, I understand what your saying but even after we ask the questions it cuts the hassle in half.

we already went through that whole problem! (above) and I said that I understood what you were saying! Well, I guess me making suggestions isn't good. I definitely won't bother anymore.

I think what fishlover means is that each person lists what they have on hand, just so that they're able to get help faster, and so the people helping them can tell them if any of the meds they have on hand will work for what they need.
I think.

The concept is good but I'm afraid it wouldn't work for a few reasons.
People don't update their aqaurium info. You'll get answers like....I don't have that any more or I don't have enough.
It would probably take up too much room. Some people have a long list of meds on hand.

I see what you mean Fishlover and PFP.
If I were to list that I had maracyn two, maracyn one and say jungle lab parasite cure in my medicine cabinet... and I had a problem with my fish... someone would look at my 'medicine cabinet' and say.. try the maracyn two.
Ok.. that may be a short cut for some. But, in the long run.... we would still be asking questions about the health of the fish, symptoms and water conditions before we could recommend a medicine. More than likely, IMO anyone that has the problem and the meds on hand already, would read the pamphlet the meds come with and check the chart to see if their fish fits one of the catagories, then if needed, come to the forum for advice. We would still be recommending medicines whether they have it in their medicine cabinet or not.
So in that regard... Im not sure that its something that Mike would spend time with adjusting the software to accomodate that. But it is really up to Mike if he felt that it was something that was valuable to the forum
