Thank You "fishLore"!!!!

Im learning more & more everyday thanks to this wesite,I was an owner of cichlids for almost 9 years. but ive recently learn that ive been doing everything wrong for so long. I finally turned to the tropical side of fish now that i have tropical fish i love so much that i treat them like my children my wife says im obsessed with them lol . I never knew anything about , nitrogen cycle, proper chemicals ,ammonia, nitrite, nitrate , etc etc. Ive read & read the nitrogen cycle article about 5 times or so & lots of other important articles on how to take care of your fish, yet there is still alot to learn. so i tank this website & everyone that has given my usefull advice.

thank you,
Anthony G

I will say this much, don't feel bad about what you were doing with your fish. Everyone learns and expands in this hobby, I am learning stuff everyday.
Something interesting I found was a "Innes" fish book from 1966 that was my husbands grandmothers. WOW the stuff they did then versus now fishkeeping has come a long way. No mention of a nitrogen cycle in that book, nor could my mother or grandmother remembering "cycling" their tanks in the 60's-80's.

This is a wonderful hobby to enjoy and learn from. Plus if you have children its a plus. My 2 boys have learned so much about the fish, habitats, etc and really enjoy helping me w/ them. My 6 year old can tell me when I have a momma cichild holding babies. My 3 year old just loves them, and respects the tanks enough not to mess with them and he hasn't for over 2 years now. He was the one who got me into fish, and I had a lot to learn myself!
