What about a chat?

My brother goes to a different fish forum and they do not have a chat in there forum code but use this place.

What do you think? I think a chat would be VERY helpful and nice to have for here.

I think that a chat may be nice to have. The only thing that I was thinking of though is that it is very helpful that people post their questions on the forum so that other people can refer back to old posts and learn from others. If we have a chat option on this site, it would eliminate the ability to refer back to old post because most people seeking instant answers would just ask their questions in the chatroom. Just a thought.

Yeah, we've had this discussion in the past and decided against it. Someone would have to be monitoring it all the time and we lose the information exchange that we get with posts.
