how to keep members' fishtanks posts?

Hi Mike

How do we prevent our 'my tanks' posts from disappearing after a while. A lot of us have put quite some work into it, but I imagine you don't want them all stickied? Or would that be a problem, considering they're in the right category anyway (I mean, it won't be information overload to sticky it all, as that's where people would go to see other members' fish tanks)?

We'd need to have a policy of no more than one thread per person.

With so many members, i'm not sure how that would work.

We could (I volunteer) 'police' it by merging people's threads if more than one per member? At least that way only one tank per member.

I wonder how many there are right now.

right now there are 3899 members listed. not all will do a "my tanks" page, but you could easily end up with pages and pages of stickied threads with members who do.

When you say "lost" you just mean hard to find right? I'm not gonna delete them or anything. Linking to your page in your signature (setup your sig via your profile link) makes it easy to get back to your tanks.

Oh but I thought that after a while, non-used posts just disappeared. Is that not the case?

No, unless the software is deleting them... One sec - I just double checked and I have to manually delete posts with no activity after so many days.

I don't get it, Callum. Like to share posts for more than one member?

Re: how to keep members' fishtanks posts?

I just checked on mine, and it's still there from April, so they're not going anywhere. Mine's buried underneath a bunch of others that have more recent posts, but that would be easily fixed if I just bothered to write a tagline.
I think I'll go do that now.
