Smileys on quote posts too

Hi Mike

Would it be difficult to change the setup so that we also get the smileys when we quote a post, rather than reply to it? I know that there's that limited number of smileys, and that that is more easily reached when quoting a post, but I still find it easier to go through the quoted post and delete them, than to save my post and go back in with 'modify' to have access to the smileys.

Well, I know that when I use the 'quote' option and the person I am quoting has used smileys.. those smileys add to the three that are allowed. I have to delete their smileys in order to insert some of my own in my response. Its too bad that the smileys in the quotes have to account towards the three allowed.
After replying to a post using smileys... sometimes we don't notice that the three have been used up in the quote. The warning pops up at the top of the page reminding us of the three only smilies per post. Then we have to go back and delete either our smilies or the ones that were in the quote.

ah, yea, this has come up before.. we'll have to see what mike says, but i'm not sure that the software would have an option to distinquish between quoted and non-quoted smileys.

No, that's not what I mean. Maybe you're all confused becuase you dont' have the problem? My profile seems to have strange problems that other people don't get.

Basically, if I click on 'quote', I dont' see the smileys to insert. I have to remember by heart what the symbol is. If I save my quote and then modify it, I have the option to add smileys again.

SO now I understand also what you meant, sorry for assuming ... That is strange that you cannot see the icons at that point. I hope that Mike will be able to give you a hand with that!

If you use the quick reply at bottom of the page then they don't show up but if you use the reply button they should show up.
Also if your having a problem with the site saying "you can only use three smileys" then right click the smiley you want and add it just like you would an image.

Ah, OK, so you have the same thing too. But the problem is that when I quick on quote, the forum software interprets that as a quick reply.

Like the tip about pasting the image!

Right so what you do is click on reply the when you get your reply window scroll down to teh post you want to quote and click the quote at that point

And another hint.. lol... if you DO click on "quote" like you were doing... all you have to do is hit "Preview" and it'll bring you to the regular reply screen with all the smileys. That is what I do.
