Can't delete my own posts anymore

Hi Mike. I can't seem to be able to delete my own posts anymore. Sometimes I go too quick and end up posting twice the same post, so I go back to the thread and delete one. Now I can't do that. Don't see the 'remove' button anymore. Am I being blind?

Mmmh, first. I'll copy/paste my explanation of the problem from another post:

'Sometimes, I want to go back to a post and change it slightly, then the forum gets itself confused at the time of saving, saying I've already posted that one, so what I do is copy the latest edit, go back to the thread (which doesn't show my latest post at all), create a new post and paste my latests posts' edits in there, then I get a warning that someone has written a new posts in the mean time (I know, me!), then I accept that, and just remove the next to newest post from the thead (confused? you will be ). Anyway, the 'remove' button isn't working now so it's duplicating them.'

No, I click on OK, then realise oops forgot to say that, then click on back, which is silly. But all the same, the delete button is not visible to me in that thread for some reason, and also in other threads.

LOL .. yea, going back in the browser gets you the double posts since the server just sees 2 posts coming in but i'm not sure why the "remove button wouldn't be visible at the top of each post. Maybe it's something you could clear up by emptying your cache and cookies and then just use the modify button. I'm sure Mike would know better than me, but it's possible the database has gotten confused in relating to your IP from the post/delete thing?

It's not related to my going back with the back button. I didn't have the remove post when I entered the thread, am pretty sure of that.

So on those posts that are affected, you've got "quote","modify","split topic" but no "remove"? is there an empty space where remove would be?

Actually it's happening on this thread too. I see just quote and modify, not split topic either. No space. The 2 buttons I have are next to each other, on the above right corner of each post: as so:

that's really bizarre - i've not heard of this happening before. of course i've only been participating in FL since march so it's not like i've seen it all. I think Mike's the only one who might have an answer to the problem.. he might have to check tables, etc on the server side.. i'm not sure.

Hi Armadillo... If I understand right, your post has the quote and modify options.. that should be normal. What you have to do is click on the 'modify' option before you can see the "remove" option. But you should have the split topic option. hmmmm....

OK.. after writing my own reply and checking it out, you are right. The only option we have is the modify and quote. After I hit modify... there is no option for 'remove' or "split topic."
So you are correct... wonder whats up with that?

Oooooh, so you think it WAS related? Sorry, Dave, you were right, then!

The thing is it seems that once you do that on a thread, then the inability to delete for that whole thread remains.

well.. i might be right, but i have no idea why i'm right. LOL. i'm afraid mike's the one to answer that for sure, being on the other side.

i can only guess at some sort of flag or database setting attached to your user account being triggered by that particular sequence of actions.

I responded in the other thread here: http://www.fishlore.com/Forum/index....6360#msg106360 ... Not sure what's happening. I've had something similar happen when using IE. I change to Firefox and the issues are resolved. But this may be something different. Lemme see if there is an SMF error/bug report on this.
