Forum Upgrade

Hello Fellow Fishloreans - Just wanted to give everyone a "heads up".

I am backing up the important files now in preparation for the forum upgrade to the latest version of the forum software. Depending on how long the backup takes - the upgrade could be later tonight or over the coming day or two. Keep your fingers crossed.

The upgrade SEEMS to have completed without any major database problems that are jumping out at me right now. Some of the functionality and the look and feel of the forum will need to be re-added and I'll tackle that over the next several days.

Thanks for your patience while I get things back to normal. I think I sprouted some gray hair on top of my head from this upgrade!

the upgrade looks great! I know how big a task that was and it looks like you pulled it off -- the sight looks and acts like it's just gotten a new skin and that's smooth.

WOW.. for a moment I thought I was somewhere else! lol.. I knew just where to look to find out about the new 'look' and software upgrade. In your forum announcements!!
I have to say tho that I really liked the color and fonts of your original FishLore site, as this looks kind of washed out and blah... Sorry!
BUT.. the main thing is... you still have all your wonderful articles.. catagories.. and great folks here with all the helpful advice any new or old fishkeeper would need!

i like the colors and all better now, but to me, it's just a 'cleaner' look - personal preferences.

Looks........different. mike if you keep this type, just one thing, could you make the sticky's separate from topics like they used to be. that's just if you keep it, otherwise goodwork

One thing I notice is the smileys or words got a little messed up as here http://www.fishlore.com/Forum/index....4564;topicseen but that's no big deal I don't think

This new forum is alittle confusing because I'm not used to it, but its nice. By the way, when I logged in, it said I needed to pur my password twice.

Great job! The links are back at the bottom of the threads, yay! And I LOVE how the attached images are now thumbnails instead of the entire image. Some of them were so large.

Everyone give Mike time to get all the kinks worked out. It takes a while to update the look and feel (theme) of the software. Change is hard, but it is more important to keep the forum software secure and you have to do that by upgrading. At my website we were out of date with our software and our site got hacked. We lost almost a year's worth of posts and that is very sad. We learned our lesson the hard way.

Were all patient here and good about it. Just need to give Mike time to work out the little problems we can help him identify. Best thing is that like you said Jendayi that the forum is working and nothing major llost.

Minor problem when you have a chance, link to view your posts and new replies to them has been removed, was their earlier today but it's gone now, whenever you have time.
